Undergraduate Research and Enrichment
“ICF
Student/Faculty Research Program”
Iowa College Foundation
A program to fund approximately 37 student
research projects on a competitive basis for students at
ICF’s 25 member colleges. The students will do their
research during academic year 2000 - 2001 and will present
their results at an ICF-sponsored symposium in Spring, 2001.

“Faculty Research Program”
Louisiana Independent College Foundation
The FIHE/UPS Louisiana Student-Faculty
Research Program will award undergraduate students at LICF
colleges and universities grants to fund undergraduate
research projects. In submitting proposals for funding,
undergraduate students gain the learning experience of
developing proposals and being evaluated. For those who are
awarded funding, there are the additional educational
experiences of conducting independent research, working with
a faculty mentor, and, perhaps, more importantly, presenting
a summary paper.

“Ethics Bowl”
Virginia Foundation for Independent
Colleges
This grant, with matching funds from the AOL
Time Warner Foundation, will allow VFIC to ensure that a
focus on issues of applied ethics is a hallmark of the
student experience on the college campuses of participating
FIHE states. Grant funds will be used to fund Ethics Bowl
pilot programs in five states, including Illinois, Iowa,
Ohio, Southern California, and Washington. It is hoped that
these pilot programs will be the building blocks to a true
national program that will be available in the next few
years to all FIHE state affiliates.
