Ned Moore Named Executive Director of FIHE

Washington, D.C., February 19, 2010 - Ned Moore, a veteran state college consortium executive, has been selected as the new Executive Director of the Foundation for Independent Higher Education. Since 2002, Moore has been President of the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges (VFIC), one of the member state associations affiliated with FIHE.

In his new position at FIHE, Moore will also serve as a Vice President of the Council of Independent Colleges, with which FIHE is in the process of merging.

During his tenure at the head of the VFIC, Moore coordinated a highly successful fundraising program on behalf of the independent colleges and universities in that consortium, and implemented a number of significant program initiatives, including an undergraduate research initiative, programs to enhance colleges access and opportunity for students from underserved populations, and a major career services program which connects college students with HR recruiters from Fortune 1000 corporations.

Prior to heading the Virginia consortium, Moore served for twelve years as Vice President for Development at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, VA, and held earlier positions at Austin College, Rhodes College and Mary Washington College. Moore is a former Board member of District III of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, has authored articles and monographs on advancement topics, and is a former President of the Virginia Association of Fund Raising Executives, which awarded him its Nina Abady Award in recognition of outstanding career achievement.

Moore is a 1972 cum laude graduate of Washington and Lee University and holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of North Texas.
