We Manage Programs Efficiently And Effectively
The Foundation has a proven track record of working creatively with donors in
the development of effective programs/projects that satisfy the goals of the
donor and strengthen private colleges. The Foundation is ready to handle all the
mechanics of grant administration, including: development and distribution of
requests for proposals or applications, organizing and convening a selection
committee, working (in cooperation with the donor) to provide the greatest
visibility possible for the program and donor, the assessment of the
program/project, and the presentation of a final report.
We are called upon to provide these services because many corporations and
foundations are aware of the needs of private colleges and universities but are
daunted by the sheer numbers of them and the challenge of developing programs
and selecting qualified grant recipients. One of the assets of the Foundation
for Independent Higher Education is its national network of state fund partners
with staffs located across the nation and in regular contact with 670 member
colleges and universities. This network and the relationships it allows can
greatly ease the complexity of design and decision-making.
Example...
The AT&T Foundation wanted to support the effective and innovative uses of
technology in private colleges through the use of collaborative projects. FIHE
prepared a proposal which has now been funded for five years, providing five
$50,000 grants each year to groups of collaborating colleges across the nation.
FIHE prepares the RFPs in consultation with AT&T, convenes the selection panel,
manages the distribution of the awards, undertakes evaluation and files reports
on the results each year.
